My apologies for not having a better image of that ring. It's a really fabulous circular boquet of metal flowers. My aunt gave it to me as a gift. Guess is kind of a funny brand to me--I vaguely remeber it's fall from grace when I was a kid in the 90s (my aunt was into the big names in American sportswear of the time--Guess, B.U.M., Tommy Hillfiger, etc) and never really being a fan when I became brand cogniscent in high school. Turns out they had a sweatshop scandal in the mid-00s, including negative ads about them featuring Rage Against the Machine. I loved Rage Against the Machine. But I didn't know about that until tonight. I recently visited a Guess outlet and admittedly, I didn't like much of what they had. But this ring is really very fabulous.
The rest of the outfit is good enough, I suppose. I styled the outfit around a lime green hat--I didn't want to wear anything that would compete with it and make me look like a nutter. So neutrals it was with accessories full of personality. If I had to pretend I had an actual style, I'd say it was that.
Swing...and a miss. Another work/school outfit. I love this skirt, but have yet to find a way to wear it that isn't 15-year-old-oing-to-the-mall-like. Suggestions?
Best. Sneakers. Ever. I've been dreaming of some bright Nike high tops since the summer, when I saw them in the window of this wicked cool gallery/store downtown. (Coincidentally, it's next door to Backspace and Ground Kontrol, the coolest arcade ever.) These fell into my lap over the weekend while doing homework for my trend forecasting class--window shopping. Luckily, I was window shopping with my aunt, which actually means buy stuff, just not as much. Haha. So she bought me these (which she hates) and another pair of shoes and a couple of hats. I'm so spoiled.
I'm in a serious skinny jeans+cardigan rut. I think it's my uniform. That outfit that you can always turn to when you're feeling frumpy or uninspired by your closet. Trying to break myself of it, but none of my dresses are really doing it for me right now.
So today was quite the disappointment. I looked so cute, then I got some bad news and it ruined my dad. It's not a total loss, though, I did end up getting the book Sewing 101. It's quite good.
Welcome to inspiration Friday! I've been cooking up this idea for a while and it's finally seeing its debut! I want to do a spotlight on bloggers I love. This week, it's Selina of Flying Saucer. She's a college student in England (though currently studying abroad in Sweden and I'm so jealous!) with a wicked sense of style. It's a little bit 1990s, with her love of crop tops and high-waisted pants, but also incredibly feminine. It's quite clear that she's proud to be a woman and puts thought into the way she dresses her body. The look above is not an exact replica of the way Selina dresses, but how I would dress, if asked to do an outfit in the style of Selina. This will be the case in all the following blogger spotlights. The key piece in this is the cropped tank in the floral print. It just screamed Flying Saucer to me and was the inspiration for this series.

Like yesterday, I don't remember the particulars of the day I wore this outfit. I do remember that I got several compliments on my shoes, which I'm always happy about. The tights got a run in the toe, which is always unfortunate, particularly when you're wearing open-toed shoes!
So, I don't remember exactly when this was taken or exactly what I was doing that day, but here's an outfit from early January. I'm sure I wore it to work, as that seems to be seeping up a good deal of my time recently.
Edited by Fashion Pulse Daily This week, some of us looked back at icons of the past, such as // Fade to #c5c5c5's Marchesa Luisa Casati, Fabulous Finds Gal 's Horst photography post, and Cafe Fashionista's take on Diana Vreeland's famous quotes, while others looked at how far we've come, such as The Curvy Fashionista's plus size fashion observations and A Dress & A Bike 's thoughts on what it means to be sexy. Each post brought a unique angle to the subject at hand, and raised important topics of self-expression, style, adaptation, trends, individuality, and acceptance. It's fascinating to examine our own fashion-related introspection, and think about how our inner selves, thoughts and feelings, are reflected through the clothing choices we make, the pairing of certain looks, and of course our writing and blogs. As expected, there was a fabulous round-up of links in the forum as well, all worthy of your eyeballs!

The Coveted - Snow boots? Winter comfort or style?
The Curvy Fashionista - Plus size fashion has picked up major steam, inspiring both yeas and nays for the latest in V magazine- stating it just a trend- or is it?
While I'm getting caught up, here's another outfit from late October. Nothing fancy. These shoes are a satin-y material, unfortunately, and I was locked out of my house by the time I realized it was raining far too hard for me to wear them and not soak through. Luckily, my daddy gave me a ride to work, so all was well and I didn't have that awful wet feet feeling all day.
Dolls, I am so sorry for that unexpected break! Between the holidays, work and going back to school (community college, not art school, unfortunately), I've been mad busy. I'm very, very sorry. But hopefully I'm back! I've got a few things up my sleeve for the new year! For now, I'm:
Living for: Trend Forecasting. It's the only fashion class Portland Community College offers, and I talked the teacher into allowing me into the class, despite having missed 2 classes. Very excited to start next week!
Loving:LoseIt. It's an app for the iPhone (or iPod touch in my case) that helps you track your daily calories and exercise. I find it ridiculously awesome for helping me look at what I eat and whether it's actually worth it. I've been making lower calorie choices recently and cutting back on sweets, but my alcohol consumption is definitely an obstacle.
Lusting after: Vintage-like dresses. I'm really loving dresses right now, and of course I always love a good vintage twist. This floral is so yummy.
Listening to: Lily Allen, mostly. Loving "The Fear." I'm also getting into Imogen Heap, which is interesting, because I used to really hate her sound. The rest is good, too. Give it a listen.
