Shrug, Charlotte Russe; pin, Victoria's Secret; dress, Torrid; shoes, Target
Day 3 and the shoe challenge is going strong! These shoes I bought for a date last summer, actually. I wanted a pair of cute sandals, but it was the end of the summer and they'd all already clearanced out. For some unknown reason, Target still had these jelly sandals for really cheap. Come to find out, they didn't sell because they're relatively uncomfortable (though I own way worse) and make this awful noise when you walk in them. It's something between a sqeak and a fart. I don't know. Awkward. No matter, though, because these were one of a handful of shoes that went to China with me and they continue to live in my closet because I'm still enamored with the idea of having jellies.
I was having a 40s moment today with my hair (though sadly this picture doesn't show it), which is where the hands-on-the-face silent film pose came from. Initially, I'd wanted to elevate this dress from the kind of sweater set matchy-matchy place it seems to be coming from. I tried it with a couple pairs of edgy heels and it just wasn't happening, so I decided to embrace the fussiness of it and put flats on. Besides, my only plans for today were going to the craft store and watching scary movies. I didn't even put makeup on. So there was really no need for heels!

Cardigan, Torrid; shirt, Torrid; pants, Tripp; shoes, Alfani
Day 2 of my shoe challenge. These I bought for and wore in my best friend's wedding. I find them adorable, but just a little old lady like. They're made of the right materials for walking around when it's wet but not actually rainy.
Today, I'm at the office (got some unsettling news, which is lame) and after work, Jeremy and I are going to the art museum. Low key, so I'm not very dressy. But I still need to wear shoes that are practical for walking around the art museum in. Also, I love red lips, but I'm just not sure about how appropriate they are for the office. Thoughts?

Our Differences Unite Us
Edited by Fashion Pulse Daily
Coming off of Ashe Mischief's Independent Fashion Blogger's Post (Good Cop/Bad Cop: Participating in Links a la Mode), you all brought your A-game in posting the links a la mode -- which made it extra hard to edit! This week, the theme that I saw emerging throughout the posts is one of celebrating our unique diversity; each site has a different take and approach to fashion, art, beauty, media, lifestyle, music - you name it! From the dry shampoo trials at Dramatis Personae to Le Petite Cecile's observations regarding the bleached eyebrow trend, you all brought a new perspective to each topic at hand, a sign that indicates how wonderful and creative the blogosphere truly is. Get even more excited for Halloween with cmykaboom and Idiosyncratic Style costume suggestions that are sure to make you smile, along with DenimDebutante's discovery of the "zipholder". All in all, one things' for certain: we've got an amazing community of bloggers! As expected, there was a fabulous round-up of links in the forum as well, all worthy of your eyeballs! Scarf, Torrid; cardigan, Old Navy; dress, Torrid; tights, Old Navy; shoes, Target
I'm quite in love with this dress. It's very multi-functional. For example, today I wore it to work, then out to coffee with Jeremy and then to a drinks function for a political campaign I'm helping with. Bet y'all didn't know I'm interested in Oregon politics. Ok, I'm actually not, but it's for work and it's a really good and different experience from what I'm used to.
Also today, a good friend of mine challenged me to wear every pair of shoes I own with no repeats. While my shoe collection may not be as absurd as some fashion bloggers' are, it's still pretty sizeable. It's going to take me over a month to complete the challenge, but I'm excited about it. It's going to stretch my styling capabilities significantly, given that I have some shoes that are just absurd (heels that look like gold disco balls, anyone?) and a lot that are season inappropriate. But it's going to be a lot of fun. Today, we mark off my bejeweled purple flats by Siegerson-Morrison for Target.
