Fendi RTW Spring 09

Ah, Fendi, the brand I didn't know I loved. This collection isn't anything mind-blowing, though the knee-length hemlines are a refreshing look. I can't tell you how many times I've looked at runway shows and thought "I would totally wear that if it wasn't going to show my lady parts..." I will admit, that by the time the show was through, I was hating on the belts so hard I almost didn't feature Fendi on here. But then I looked over the images again and saw that what's underneath the belts is beautiful and feminine, something I think we really need to embrace in this hard economic climate. I always feel better when I'm dressed in a way that shows off, rather than combats, my feminine features. Plus spring is the perfect time to bust out the laser-cut lace, white fluttery fabrics and sheer underpinnings. The season almost begs for it.

3.1 Phillip Lim Fall '09 RTW

New York Fashion week is but 5 weeks away! In preparation for the craziness that is sorting through the images and deciding on who I like, what I hate and which lines to cover, I thought I'd make some warm up posts of my favorite designers' most recent lines. I was under the distinct impression that right now, my favorite line is 3.1 Phillip Lim. Imagine my surprise when I went through the images in my "inspiration" folder and found out that Phillip Lim is in a tie for second place with Fendi, a line I'd never really associated with my sense of style. By the numbers, Oscar de la Renta won first place! Huh. Luckily, I don't determine my favorites by the number of images by the designer in my inspiration folder. So fear not, Phillip Lim, you're still #1 in my heart.

I went through and looked up the most recent lines of my top 5 designers and found that all but one, Oscar de la Renta, have already shown their Spring '09 Ready to Wear collections. Yay! I started with who I think is the best and will work my way down for the next 5 weeks. Get Ready! Today, we're looking at 3.1 Phillip Lim. I thought the show started off pretty slow, I'd only found 2 looks that I liked by look 20 (out of 41) and was beginning to worry. Around image 25, though, it started getting really good and I was finding myself saving look after look! I especially love the work he did with exposed zippers. My friends all know how much I love a good exposed zipper.
