Cardigan, Old Navy; top, Old Navy; pants, Tripp; shoes, Charlotte Russe
I spent the morning looking at pictures of vintage hairdos (I'm trying to decide if I want to cut bangs) and had this vision of backcombing my hair up into a Joan Holloway-esque pouf, but then realized that I was going to go see my family (Thanksgiving and all) and that I really didn't need to put that much effort into my hair. So I settled for a headband in a more Betty Draper kind of way. The outfit is kind of 1960s summer day at the country club. All in all, I was having a rather vintage inspired kind of day.
What do you think, by the way? Bangs? No bangs? It's a difficult decision to make.

Cardigan, Old Navy; dress, Torrid; tights, Old Navy; shoes, Charlotte Russe
Ah, Mondays. A time to play catch up after the weekend, to lay the groundwork for a successful work week, to set new goals. I wore this smashing outfit to work on a Monday. It was the very last of about a bazillion outfits I tried on--I think this is what I get for not picking out what to wear the night before. No matter. I'm absolutely in love with this dress. Still. I've owned it for about 3 months and it never fails to be cute, unfailingly situationally appropriate and super comfortable.
The shoes, on the other hand, I'm not a huge fan of. They get the job done...as long as the job is simply covering my feet. They're not terribly fashionable, they certainly don't keep my feet dry, but I'm running out of shoes and since it wasn't supposed to rain on Monday, I chose these on my way out the door. Funny thing is, that's how I ended up buying them in the first place. They weren't the cutest shoes in the store, but I needed a pair of flats and these were on clearance for very cheap and I was in a hurry. I suppose this is also a lesson learned: never shop when you're in a hurry!

Shoes, Charlotte Russe; everything else, Old Navy
I wore this to the office and then to family dinner with Rachel. It was a good outfit, I love these shoes. They're some of my favorites. And relatively comfortable. I don't remember them being so when I didn't wear heels very often, but now, just fine! Also, the beadwork on the shirt is my own. I felt very handy and Rachel's mom complimented me on it. She (and several others) also complimented me on my shoes, but I'm not sure they were entirely serious.

Shrug, Charlotte Russe; top, Old Navy; belt, Target; jeans, Dickies; shoes, Torrid
I honestly don't really remember much about what I was doing when I wore this outfit. It was a Wednesday, I had to work...I think I just went home after work (a pretty rare occasion, to be honest). Either way, cute, no? Easy, comfortable, wearable. I like it. And I like pig tails!

Shirt, Gap; skirt, Old Navy; necklace, Forever 21; knee-highs, Target; shoes, Charlotte Russe
Today has been a pajamas and slippers day. You don't need another post about that. So here's something I'd already cued up. This outfit is from some time in late October, though I'm not totally sure of the date. It was cold out, but not rainy, so it was the perfect day to wear wedges. The idea of wearing knee highs with wedges had been rattling around in my head for quite some time, but I always chickened out when I'd think of wearing them. Not this time, though! This day, I wore them high and proud. To pretty good results, I think.

Sweater, Old Navy; belt, diy; skirt, Torrid; tights, Old Navy; shoes, Charlotte Russe
After wearing heels for 13 hours yesterday, I feel like I've earned these flats. My feet are rejoicing in their lack of any shaping. But really, those heels did right by me. They were fairly comfortable until about the 11th hour (there's actually no joke in that, shockingly) when I was just so tired of standing, I'm pretty sure no pair of shoes would have made any difference. I'm going to try those inserts in another pair of shoes, see if that's what made yesterday's pair so bearable.
Back to the task at hand, though. I don't remember buying these shoes, but I own the,. They're alright. Just a run of the mill pair of flats. They were definitely an afterthought in today's outfit. I chose them because it's not going to rain today and these are awful when it rains. They soak right through and then I feel like I'm getting trench foot. So I thought I should wear them while I can.
I thought this outfit was going to be adorable when I picked it out last night. I was in a delerious sleepy haze at 9:45 (I was asleep at 10, is that ridiculous?), then when I got dressed this morning I was far too tired to try to fix it. The shape of the sweater doesn't really compliment the skirt, blue tights weren't the right choice with an orange top, the list goes on... But I've committed to the outfit, and thus it stays and you get to see it.

Day 3 and the shoe challenge is going strong! These shoes I bought for a date last summer, actually. I wanted a pair of cute sandals, but it was the end of the summer and they'd all already clearanced out. For some unknown reason, Target still had these jelly sandals for really cheap. Come to find out, they didn't sell because they're relatively uncomfortable (though I own way worse) and make this awful noise when you walk in them. It's something between a sqeak and a fart. I don't know. Awkward. No matter, though, because these were one of a handful of shoes that went to China with me and they continue to live in my closet because I'm still enamored with the idea of having jellies.
I was having a 40s moment today with my hair (though sadly this picture doesn't show it), which is where the hands-on-the-face silent film pose came from. Initially, I'd wanted to elevate this dress from the kind of sweater set matchy-matchy place it seems to be coming from. I tried it with a couple pairs of edgy heels and it just wasn't happening, so I decided to embrace the fussiness of it and put flats on. Besides, my only plans for today were going to the craft store and watching scary movies. I didn't even put makeup on. So there was really no need for heels!
